Description of Services:Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT)
At Illumma, we offer Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) sessions in partnership with our experienced therapists. This approach is ideal for clients who require a more secure healing environment and feel more comfortable with a therapist present. KAT is also well-suited for clients with severe mental health struggles or those with a strong control response. During the session, our medical team administers ketamine and monitors the client remotely outside the room, creating a therapeutic container that fosters healing.
Ketamine Infusion Therapy
For higher functioning clients who already have a mental health care team in place, we offer self-guided ketamine infusion sessions. Clients receive a six-infusion series over four to six weeks, and our trained infusionists - paramedics and RNs - monitor them in the rooms to hold space. Integration work is done outside the clinic with either an Illumma integration coach or the client's established therapist or coach.
Group Ketamine IntegrationWe are excited to partner with Being True To You to offer Illumma clients three months of complimentary group coaching, private to only Illumma clients! Each Zoom session will be a drop-in, open discussion group for ketamine integration. Here, you can share your experience and gain valuable resources and skills for navigating those experiences. Each session will offer tips and tools for integrating insights into lasting, positive change. Integration support is essential to ketamine treatments - it can help turn awareness gained during treatments into actionable insights and lasting personal transformation.
IV Therapy
At Illumma, we believe in supporting our clients' overall health and wellness. After a ketamine infusion, we offer vitamin infusions as a quick and effective way to aid in recovery and promote healthy living. Since the client already has an IV port in place, we connect the IV bag after the infusion, allowing the client to complete the session and recover in a timely manner.
NAD+ Therapy
NAD+ stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. It is a coenzyme found in all living cells and has even been called an anti-aging molecule because of its many vital roles in promoting health and prolonging lifespan. This potent molecule has a lot of potential for new therapeutic opportunities. Studies have shown that it can help battle many effects of aging and chronic conditions on the human body and brain.

Overview of Experience:Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Process:
We will start with an educational call to discuss your symptoms and determine whether KAT might benefit you. If so, you will meet with our medical providers for an initial consultation and psychiatric assessment. If cleared by the medical intake, you will be scheduled for two therapy sessions allowing you to get to know the therapist and create intentions, goals, and a focus for treatment. There will be a minimum of two preparatory sessions before your first KAT session. In some cases, more than two initial sessions are indicated.During a 2 hour KAT session, clients first meet with medical staff that will administer the ketamine. Before the ketamine is administered, clients meet with their KAT therapist for 20 minutes to prepare. Ketamine is then given through an IV with onset around 5-10 minutes and duration around 60 minutes. The therapist will be present and engaged throughout the experience and help the client begin integrating their insights after the medication has stopped being administered.
During the peak of the ketamine experience, clients often find themselves in a realm of consciousness described as “cosmic,” “ego dissolved,” “boundless,” or “ineffable.” Due to the intensity of these experiences, it is helpful for clients to be well prepared and supported during their journeys. KAT practitioners seek to do this first by intentionally preparing the environment (setting) to foster a sense of safety, trust, and relaxation; second, by preparing the client’s mindset (set) psychologically and emotionally to navigate the trip before inducing this altered state; third, by being present with clients throughout the experience so that they always have an experienced, knowledgeable person to assist them in navigating any challenging parts of the journey; and fourth, assist them in deriving meaning and creating change from their experience.
Upon reentering waking consciousness, there will often be much to process, and not all of it will make immediate sense. This initial stage of returning and remembering is a vital aspect of KAT, where insights can be brought back, processed, and digested into takeaways that can be implemented into one’s daily life. Having a therapist familiar with these journeys can significantly enhance the long-term impact of the ketamine experience along with helping find one’s equilibrium and sense of feeling grounded after coming back from such a profound journey.
Ketamine Infusion Process:
Illumma’s spa-like infusion center was designed with your healing in mind. Our team is there to create a safe, comfortable, and relaxing environment personalized to your needs. You will be greeted at the door and welcomed back to your private infusion room by your infusionist. This trained paramedic ensures you are safe and comfortable and hold space for your transformational process. Each session with a guided meditation allows your brain to get into the healing mindset. We will then begin the ketamine infusion, which will last sixty minutes. After the infusion has ended, you will recover in your infusion room, where our nurse practitioner will meet with you and create an individualized plan based on your experience. At Illumma, we believe that you are your inner healer, and we use your input in combination with our clinical knowledge to customize your infusion protocol.
Once you feel recovered, typically 10-20 minutes, our team will help you to your ride. Clients often feel hungry and a little tired after their infusions. We suggest you go home, get something to eat, and relax. Remember, you are in a very open and receptive state post-infusion, so try not to consume or do anything stressful or emotionally irritating. This is an excellent time for self-care, reflection, and listening to the needs of your body. We suggest journaling, walking, drawing, meditation, or any other practice that brings you insight and peace.
Despite these physical sensations, it is crucial to know that most clients do not start to feel better before their first treatment or even on the same day. For the first four to six hours after the infusion session, you may feel anxious that nothing is happening. You may also have a lingering unpleasant headache, mild dizziness, or nausea. Know that ketamine is starting to work on the growth of trauma-stunted neurons and synapses in the brain despite these physical sensations.
After 24-72 hours, clients, and/or their family and friends, may notice a change (i.e., increased energy, whistling and/or smiling, making jokes, or just a more optimistic overall demeanor). Think of the next two to three days as your window of opportunity to make breakthroughs in therapy or coaching. Also, invite the chance to explore further with meditation, journaling, or breathwork.
Further, clinically noticeable effects are cumulative; several sessions will result in a more consistent and longer-lasting impact. Illumma will partner with your existing mental health care provider to tailor the experience to your goals. If you don’t already have a provider, we’ll connect you with some of the best in the industry.
Throughout your six-infusion series, we will increase your dosage to find your optimal level. The series is typically done over 4-6 weeks, depending on needs and scheduling. After the initial series, most clients feel the effects continue to improve for, at least, the next thirty days, which is when our team will check in with you. Subsequent single maintenance (or “booster”) infusions may be necessary to sustain symptom improvement. Each client is unique; these boosters may be indicated anytime, three weeks to three months after the initial series.
Intake Process:Step 1: Schedule a complimentary information call with Team Illumma to get your ketamine questions answered.
Step 2: Complete your intake paperwork quickly and easily on your phone, computer, or tablet.
